Citing competition, the Red Arrow Diner suddenly closed their Milford location on Sunday after a ten year run.

With only a few hours notice, a Milford's Red Arrow Diner shut down on Sunday.

Co-owner Carol Lawrence told WMUR News 9 it was a tough decision to make: "It had to end, and what we were trying to decide is where to put the other employees.”

Some of those employees have moved to the three other Red Arrow Diners in Manchester, Londonderry, and Concord. According to Laurence in the article, about 50% have been absorbed.

Not surprisingly, the staff was taken aback by the lack of notice, especially ahead of the holidays.

Former employee Erma Hasu told WMUR News 9:  “A couple of hours is just not enough. We all have rent, and most of us have kids. ... I myself have a little baby here. It’s just not the right way about doing it, I think.”

Other area restaurants have offered employees work, as the service industry works together. Some have even offered a $300 sign on bonus, according to WMUR News 9.
