Rye Harbor Lobster Pound Will Continue to Operate Thanks to the Community and Governor Sununu

A restaurant that means a whole lot to the people of Rye, New Hampshire, was almost no longer!

If you aren't familiar with Rye Harbor Lobster Pound, they opened back in 1996. They are family owned and operated in every sense of the word. They may be small but they are mighty! For over two decades they have served up high quality food and accumulated MANY awards and accolades including:

• Most Creative Cuisine 2004 with the Lobster Gazpacho at the Hampton Seafood Festival
• Best Lobster roll in 2006 with the Hot Lobster roll in a butter sherry sauce
• 2007 Most Creative Cuisine with a Lobster Ceviche
• 2008 Best Bisque, 2010 - 2013
• Best Chowder with our "fluffy" chowder
• 2013 Freshest Catch award winner, Montauk Seafood Salad

A few days ago they took to their Facebook page to share they were no longer allowed to sell their amazing prepared food in the Harbor. The business can't survive without selling their lobster rolls and soups. They started a petition to save Rye Harbor Lobster Pound. At the time of releasing this article it has over 6,000 signatures.

Today they announced that thanks to the wonderful support from the Seacoast community and Governor Sununu, they have been granted a year waiver to operate as usual! As they said in their petition:

"We have worked so hard over the past 25 years to support the local fishermen, amazing communities across the NH seacoast and YOU (one lobster roll, fluffy chowder at a time)!"

It is businesses like this one that make the Seacoast such a special place to live and visit.

Rye Harbor Lobster Pound plans to open for the season Memorial Day Weekend. YAYYY!
