I'm not sure how a story like this gets hidden for so long.

Perhaps actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck thought it was not "newsworthy." Let me tell you, this is a pretty cool story.

Many know that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are good pals. The two starred in movies together like Field of Dreams, Good Will Hunting, and Chasing Amy, all while in their teens and twenties.

But before the two friends made it big, they were actually living like a married couple, using each other's funds...as one.

Let's back it up. "Affleck first met Damon in the early 1980s when they were 8 and 10, respectively," according to an Insider article. "The two lived two blocks away from each other in Cambridge, Massachusetts, loved baseball and acting, and went on to attend Cambridge Rindge and Latin high school."

The two became pals with the same goal: to make it big in Hollywood. With that in mind, Damon and Affleck started living together early on in their careers.

It wasn't until recently that Damon made it public that the two also had a shared bank account. "It was unusual, but we needed the money for auditions," Damon said in a Popsugar article. He went on to call the arrangement "a weird thing in retrospect."

The two wannabe rising stars, later to become stars, were living on a shared income. How cool...and cute...and desperate.

It wasn't just auditions the friends pulled money out of the account for, though.

“We were allowed to take out 10 bucks and get quarters and go to [the arcade] and play video games,” Damon said, according to Popsugar. “That was another use of the money we were allowed.”

As they paved their way through Boston and later Hollywood, the friends are able to recall memories of where they started.

“As long as one of us had money, we knew the power wasn’t going to get shut off,” Damon said, according to Popsugar. “I remember after doing [1993 movie] ‘Geronimo,’ I was like, ‘f***, I probably have like 35 grand in the bank.’ I was like, ‘We’re good! We’re good for a year!'”
