This Short New Hampshire Hike Offers Gorgeous Views and a Terrifying, Narrow, ‘Table Rock’

There is no denying that we are in the thick of leaf-peeping season.

Hundreds of thousands of New Englanders, and those outside of New England, will flock to the White Mountains and the KancamagusHighway to see the leaves change colors this fall.

Sure, the drive itself will be beautiful, but if you want to see the best views (and avoid most of the traffic) a short hike is what you really need.

The elevation will allow you to see a broad landscape of every kind of color that fall offers in New England.

And there is one slightly terrifying hike that could be perfect for you and your family to tackle this fall to see New England's best leaf-changing colors.

This is the view from the top of Table Rock Trail in Colebrook, New Hampshire.

The trail itself is only 1.5 miles round trip, so all hikers of any experience level can tackle it.

It is less than 800 feet of elevation gain.

And the views are outstanding overlooking Lake Gloriette and Dixville Notch.

The highlight of this entire trail is of course the very end where there is a "table" made of "rock."

This picture makes it look MUCH scarier than it really is. It is safe, fun, and "easy" for most.
