Local Farm Teaches Sourdough Bread Basics At Derry Brewery This Sunday
I have been saying for what feels like FOREVER that I want to learn how to make my own sourdough bread. I have watched the videos, admired the loaves others have made with the perfect crispy crust and fluffy center, and then of course, believed that making sourdough sounded way too intimidating.
So, when I saw a New Hampshire farm was hosting an introductory sourdough class, I couldn't help but think… is this my sign?!

Geary Farms is offering a hands-on Intro to Sourdough class where you'll actually get to make your own loaf to take home and bake. The class will walk beginners through the techniques they need to successfully make sourdough, and you'll even leave with an active starter so you can keep your baking adventure going at home.
And the best part? They're holding it at Rockingham Brewing Company in Derry. I love the idea of learning something like this while sipping a beer. Now you're speaking my language!

Geary Farms is run by New Hampshire couple Nick and Christy Ortins, who say their goal is to make an impact through their work and their relationship with nature. Their mission is to provide “restoration, refuge, and sustenance for all of us. What’s good for nature is good for all of us.”

The farm has also been offering sourdough products locally, including artisan sourdough, cinnamon raisin bread and sourdough bagels.
The upcoming class is happening Sunday 9/13 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Rockingham Brewing Company, so you can spend an afternoon learning a new skill and potentially come home with the beginnings of your very own sourdough obsession!

As for me? I'm thinking it's finally time to stop saying “I should learn how to make sourdough” and actually do it.
