Customer Accused of Spitting at Maine Restaurant Employee May Face Charges
Okay, folks. This Anti-Mask thing has to stop. If you don’t want to wear a mask, stay at home. When someone approaches you and asks you to put a mask on, just do it or leave.
Reporting from newscentermaine.com reveals a disturbing incident that occurred at the Common Loon Public House in Orono Maine.
A couple began arguing with a young employee over the mask requirement, according to the news station, and the manager stepped in and the argument escalated quickly.
The female patron who reportedly disagreed with the mask policy allegedly threw menus and silverware at the bar’s manager, News Center Maine reported.
It apparently didn’t stop there. The woman is also accused of SPITTING on the employee, according to the news station.
They added that the bar manager is "looking to press charges."
I don’t know if everyone knows this but spitting on someone is considered “assault” in the State of Maine.
According to newscentermaine.com, local Orono Police have identified the accused customers and are investigating the incident.
Co-owner, Meghan Gardner said to the news station that she "can’t imagine a scenario where [she] would spit on another human being no matter what was going on.”
This wasn’t the first time someone in the Common Loon expressed disagreement with the mask policy, but it was the first-time spitting was involved, according to News Center Maine.
The Common Loon is known for its progressive, welcoming, all-inclusive space. There are Black Lives Matter flags, Pride Flags, and the words ‘Love’ and ‘Equality’ written on its windows, says newscentermaine.com.
Is this my America? We need to treat each other with respect and compassion. If you don’t want to wear a mask, fine, stay at home.
A mask is our only defense against COVID-19 and with therapeutics not being available and a vaccine that may be a year away, we have to do everything we can to protect each other.
