Stay in This Real Helicopter at This New England Luxary Resort
Okay, I have seen a lot of unique stays, AirBNBs, HipCamps, etc., but I have NEVER seen anything as cool as staying in a real helicopter.
Below is a 1968 Sikorsky HH-3F Pelican Helicopter that has been transformed into the ultimate sleeping experience.
This "cottage" and 18 other unique stays can be found at the #1 destination and spa in America, according to Condé Nast Traveler and a Boston Uncovered article.
This helicopter is inside of a building, so you're not trapped inside of the machine the whole time.
I have to wonder if they built the building around the chopper. Either way, this is a wildly cool place to sleep, get away, and even wash your hands...look at the sink (with a view).
Don't worry, you won't get claustrophobic inside of the helicopter. The bed itself is outside of the heavy machinery.
There's also a soaking tub and a shower with a glass door directly next to the Pelican.
But you probably want to see exactly what is inside of the centerpiece.
Below is the inside of the chopper, and MAN is it authentic!
This would be a "living room" type space, complete with a couch, a television, a few seating options, and apparently a lot of first aid kits (those probably came with the helicopter).
There is much more on the inside too! You can see directly through, and even hang out in the cockpit.
There is a "kitchen" space inside the helicopter with a restaurant-style sink and some authentic helicopter seats.
This incredible stay is located at Winvian Farm, in Litchfield, CT, only about two hours from Boston, MA.
According to Boston Uncovered,
The whimsical resort has been awarded the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award for five consecutive years, and this year it took home the top spot on the list of America’s 20 favorite destination spa and resorts.

Below is the website description for the stay:
This amazing Coast Guard chopper stands at the center of a unique cottage, its rotor blades embedded in the ceiling (flights of fancy only!). The originals are here: pilot and co-pilot seats, switches, gauges – with modern updates such as a mod sofa and flat screen TV. Take your cocktails in the cockpit, watch a film in the fuselage, and sleep in the cloud-soft king-sized bed outside the helicopter. Stylish, fun, and totally aerodynamic.
