Strafford County Warming Center to Open Again Due to Extreme Cold Temperatures
The Strafford County Extreme Cold Weather Warming Center is once again opening its doors for those seeking a place to come in from the bitter cold.
It will open Thursday night, March 4, and remain open each night from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. through Monday morning, March 8.
The warming center is located at 30 Willand Drive in Somersworth.
The Dover, Rochester and Somersworth emergency management directors made the call to open the warming center because of another forecast of life-threatening low temperatures "that will likely diminish the availability of existing shelter space," per the press release.
If you're looking to volunteer and help out the center, people are needed to assist with tasks, like set-up and take-down, client check-in, laundry, cleaning and client engagement.

Those who can, help take at-risk or unsheltered people to the warming center when possible, because the center staff will be unable to take people to or from the center.
