I am definitely an active person but I don't really consider myself a hiker! However, friends of mine who live in Cumberland Maine just climbed Maine's highest peak, Mount Katahdin. Their pictures are absolutely breathtaking.

It's a 17.3 mile loop (9.3 out and 9.3 back) and is 5,269 feet! Holy Smokes!

I can imagine how accomplished I would feel looking out from the highest point in Maine and knowing I got up there on my own two legs.

If you are a hiker and have conquered Mount Katahdin I could really use some words of wisdom here. What must I pack with me besides a positive "can do" attitude?
