The joy of sunflowers goes beyond the sunshine they bring.  Sunflowers are jolly, bright bursts of sunshine, and bring smiles wherever they grow.  Those grins get bigger when there's a full field of these golden blossoms.

As we venture closer to the fall, sunflower season is, well, in full bloom.

For 10 years, Coppal House Farm in Lee, New Hampshire, has hosted a Sunflower Festival. But this year, it was cut short due to torrential rains and thunderstorms.

That's one thing you can't count on...Mother Nature.  The flowers also depend on a wet spring, which did not happen this year.

If you missed the festival, here's your chance to visit another.  The Annual Sunflower Festival at the Red Barn at Tendercrop Farm in Dover, New Hampshire, is almost here.

The event is this Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8, from 10am-6pm, and celebrates the end of summer and beginning of autumn.  There will be live music, artisans, and you can take home some sunflowers of your own.

Admission is $10 per person, and free for those under 12 years old.  There are 12 different varieties of sunflowers to choose from.
