Taylor Swift was on the "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on December 10, 2025.  She was stunning, of course, and the most exciting part of the whole interview is her description of her ideal audiobook set in Maine.

The conversation started when Stephen asked Taylor what she does after she puts on her amazing 3 hour show for her fans.  She said that her "profession" is to come up with ideas, so, if she can turn off the ideas for a second, that's very exciting.

Taylor said that she likes to relax with putting on Dateline or, listening to audiobooks.

The elements of her ideal book would include:

  • A mysterious relationship where "he may not be what he seems."
  • A murder that has happened in the past, but is referred to in the book
  • The idea of a ghost or an actual ghost

This is where it gets exciting!

Taylor's ideal plotline includes a family compound on an island off the Coast of Maine.  There are intriguing family secrets that have yet to be discovered.  For example, why did the brother all of a sudden show up after being gone for 10 years?

Taylor goes on to describe the marriage in this Maine family isn't what it seems.  The husband is an awful person, but wait!  Plot Twist!  It's HER (the wife) who is the psycho.

Taylor Wants to Listen to an Audiobook About a Family Off the Coast of Maine

At the end of her description, she said that she needs to read the book, correction - she needs someone to read that book to her.

I am CERTAIN that someone is going to write this book specifically because Taylor said she wanted it.  I think I know the perfect author and no, it's not Stephen King - although it sound like Taylor might like that.

J. Courtney Sullivan needs to write this book.  She wrote a book called "Maine," which is one of my favorites books of all time.  (Taylor, it IS on audiobook, here's the link and you're welcome.
