It was a case that gripped the state of Massachusetts for more than two decades.

Masslive.com is reporting that the television show Dateline NBC will feature a two-hour episode devoted to the quest for justice for Lisa Ziegert.

The Agawam Middle School teaching assistant, Lisa Ziegert, was abducted from her part-time job at Brittany’s Card & Gift Shoppe in Agawam on April 15, 1992. Days later her body was found in a wooded area off Route 75.

The case remained cold for more than 20 years, according to the article, and it became one of the Massachusetts' most famous cold cases and no suspect was publicly identified until 2017.

Producers for Dateline NBC interviewed family and friends of Lisa Ziegert and spent hours with Stephanie Barry,  a reporter who covered the arrest and sentencing of Ziegert’s killer, Gary E. Schara.

Dateline NBC also interviewed retired Agawam Police Detective Wayne Macey and Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.

Gary E. Schara plead guilty in September 2019 to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison.

The episode will air Friday, January 10 at 9 pm.
