The Boston Bruins star will serve a suspension for not participating in the annual exhibition game.

Tuukka Rask is having another stellar season. In fact, he was named to the NHL's All-Star team. Rask earned the honors as the leading vote-getter among goalies to represent the Atlantic Division. Despite the fact the team will be captained by teammate David Pastrnak, Tuukka has elected not to participate in the skills competition and 3-on-3 tournament. According to MSN, This has drawn the ire of the league, who will make the goalie serve a one game suspension for his lack of participation in the contest.

For Rask, it all comes down to family. “It’s everybody’s personal choice, I guess. Nobody really wants to make the league look bad or anything like that,” Rask said to the assembled press at Wells Fargo Center. “Sometimes you have to be selfish and make these decisions, thinking of your family and the second part of the season.”

Tuukka will have quite the vacation. The Bruins will have 10 days off after hosting the Vegas Golden Knights next week.
