The 'Polar Coaster' has put a long-standing winter event on ice, due in part to abnormally warm conditions.

New Hampshire's up and down winter has put a damper on many events this season, and has outright cancelled another. According to their Facebook page, The New England Sled Dog Club have squashed plans for this year's sled dog race in Tamworth. Scheduled for this Saturday, this wasn't the first hiccup in 2020. Back in January, the race was postponed for similar reasons, and rescheduled for the 29th. However, according to their Facebook page, a foot of ice is required to run the race over Chocorua Lake. Recently, eight inches were reported by NH Fish & Game, but that was on February 11th. Since then, warm days and buckets of rain have further hampered the plans.

According to WMUR News 9, the sled dog event has been canceled many times recently, although it was held last year. With so many cancellations, it is believed a new venue will be have to be found.
