NH tourism officials are expecting 640-thousand out-of-state visitors to spend $91-million over the three-day weekend.

That's a 3.5 percent increase in visitors and a 4 percent increase in spending over last years numbers.

State and local police departments will have stepped-up patrols on the roadways in an effort to keep the number of accidents down.

In Maine, state officials say there have been 99 traffic deaths so far this year, 21 in August alone.
