Person Accused of Stealing $25K from New Hampshire’s Tuckaway Tavern Has Been Arrested

I love the Tuckaway Tavern in Raymond, New Hampshire, and I just want to shout it from the mountaintops. In my humble opinion, the Tuckaway Tavern put Raymond New Hampshire on the map. No shade to Raymond, it's a lovely town. But if it weren't for award winning steak tips, I might not find myself venturing in that direction of 101. I certainly do because, as I said, award winning steak tips!

Bobby Marcotte and his Tuckaway team have been slinging great meat on route 27 in Raymond for 13 years. We love to see good things happen to good people and the recognition Chef Bobby has received over the years is well deserved and so inspiring.  From scoring a hand full of Best of NH Awards:

to being named restauranteur of the year, each accolade is warranted and deserves to be celebrated!

It is maddening to think that someone would seek out a local business like the Tuckaway and steal their hard earned money! This is not a corporate chain, this restaurant and butchery has been built from the ground up. Not to mention all of the partnerships they have with local charities. Stealing from a business like this is like stealing from the community.

According to WMUR, back in 2018 a man broke into Tuckaway Tavern & Butchery on a Tuesday night at 1:30am. The restaurant was obviously closed. The person stole more than $25,000.

Tuckaway Tavern took to their social media and asked their community to come forward with any leads they might have to help catch this thief. The reward was a tasty and tempting one: a $2,000 cash reward and FREE Steak Tips for the duration of his sentence.

Today, six years later, they announced that the person who they believe to be the thief has been arrested. Though it took awhile a win is a win so the Tuckaway crew is offering a delicious special in celebration of justice! According to their Facebook post:

"We Are Celebrating Justice w/ EVERY POUND OF STEAK TIPS @ $14.99 lb GETS A FREE POUND OF CHICKEN TIPS TO GO WITH IT! So for every TIP, ya get a TIP!"

It was not clear how they ended up catching the suspect and if it was a result of their Tips for Tips promotion. Regardless, the community has rallied around Chef Bobby and the Tuckaway family during this time. Something tells me the Tuckaway Tavern is going to be a VERY busy place this weekend!
