Uber and Lyft Getting Special Zones Near Fenway Park
It's going to be even easier to use ride share programs next time you're in Boston's Fenway neighborhood.
The streets of Boston have long been an issue. Even those who know their way around find themselves routinely throwing in the towel. Parking (also highway robbery) and public transportation is the way most of us go when going to a game or concert. With the rise of Uber and Lyft, moving around the city has become a little more convenient. However, with congestion, finding and entering/exiting a vehicle still presents challenges.
Per a Tweet from NBC 10 Boston, Starting Friday, the city is attempting to alleviate congestion and make the services a little safer with designated drop off and pick up spots for Uber, Lyft, and other companies coming into the Fenway neighborhood. In the past, you might have had to battle a busy bicycle lane, city crosswalk, or double parked traffic.
The initiative has worked well in cities like Washington DC. According to the Washington Post, the mayor has a Vision Zero strategy to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries.
