Why You Need to Visit These New England States Before Everyone Else Does
You live in New England, and can't possibly imagine who doesn't know about the White Mountains, Bar Harbor, or Newport. Right?
Here's a news headline for you.
Not everyone in the country nor the world knows about our gem spots in New England, specifically in these four states.
I know, New England is only made up of six states, but most people think of Boston, and Connecticut's proximity to New York, and maybe Portland, Maine, is a distant third of "must go to" places in New England.
Thrillist.com has determined the least visited states, and Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island are on that shortlist.
Apparently, Gen X-ers and Millennials are into any spot that's not yet popular, and most of the New England states landed on that top 12 list, along with Montana, Oklahoma and Arkansas (among others).
Take heart, New England. As incredulous as it sounds, we don't want people to find out what we know about how beautiful Rye, New Hampshire is, nor there are 54 covered bridges in the state.
Kennebunkport isn't the only gorgeous coastal town in Maine, with miles of rugged coastline, it's one town after another of stunning New England villages and towns and they all have sumptuous lobster. Do not miss Bar Harbor or the hipper Portland.
With over 400 miles of coastline, pick a spot in Rhode Island and plop yourself down on a beach or a bistro. There's plenty to go around. Try Del's Lemonade or The Nordic in Charlestown for an all you can eat lobster buffet to die for.
Have you heard of The Elephant's Trunk, a phenomenal flea market in New Milford, Connecticut? Don't miss a slice of one of the best pizza's from Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana, unless you prefer the Hollywood famous Mystic Pizza.
Whether it's Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut or Rhode Island, there are so many hidden treasures we can't help but be bursting with pride, even if there are more popular places in America. We know and that's all that matters.
