Updates from the Rochester Public Library Including Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Lots of things are happening at the Rochester Public Library. The most fun is the pumpkin decorating contests!
The contest has categories for children at 12 and under, young adults 13-18, and Adults 19 and over, according to seacoastonline.com, but no carved pumpkins! Just use your imagination with paint, glitter, or pasted on decorations.
The news site states that you can submit your decorated pumpkins between October 23 and October 28 and the winners will be announced on October 30. If you have any questions about the contest, call the Main Desk at 603-332-1428 extension #2 or contact the Children’s Room at 603-335-7549.
Make sure you pick up your pumpkins promptly after the winners are announced and by November 3 or they will be disposed of, hopefully to hungry squirrels.
In other news at the Rochester Public Library, the Virtual Book Clubs are going well. The Rochester Public Library will be reading “Lovecraft Country” which is available via the Hoopla app so that you can read the book on a Kindle, tablet, or other e-book readers. Please register for the book club’s virtual discussion which will be held via Webex Meetings by calling the Main Desk.
If you are missing your ‘in-person’ book club, this is a nice alternative and a chance to get to meet some fellow book lovers virtually. In addition to the RPL-to-Go program which is a pick-up service where you can place items on hold by calling or emailing the library and then pick up the items, DVD, audiobooks, Magazines, or Books according to seacoastonline.com.
If you still can’t figure out what to read, the RPL is offering browsing appointments for individuals or families. They will begin taking appointments for a 45-minute browsing session on October 17. Lots going on for readers in Rochester so check it out. Pun intended.
