A New England Burger Staple Is Saying Goodbye To Its Original Home
If you’ve ever wanted to eat like a Wahlberg, Hingham, Massachusetts has been the place to do it for nearly 15 years. But now, an era has officially come to an end.

The original Wahlburgers location at the Hingham Shipyard has closed its doors after nearly 15 years in business.
The company posted on their social media, "Thank you for the memories. After nearly 15 years, our lease at the Hingham Shipyard is coming to an end and will close on Sept. 30. As the original Wahlburgers location, Hingham will always hold a special place in our story. While this location is closing, we’re actively looking for a new home in the Boston area and hope to have more to share soon."
The post was flooded with memories and love from New Englanders who have made the Hingham location part of their lives over the nearly 15 years it’s been open.
One local wrote, "It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to see the original Hingham Wahlburgers close. I worked in the corporate office for a number of years, and Hingham was our flagship store, the place where it all began. I still think about the parties we had there, the VIP events, and all the people I met along the way. That job even led to me filming a TV show, which was something I never would have imagined for myself. What an unexpected, amazing journey."
She continued saying, "Wahlburgers opened doors for me and gave me opportunities I didn’t know were possible. I’m especially grateful for the relationship I built with Paul and for everyone I had the chance to work alongside. Like any chapter of life, it wasn’t all perfect, but the experiences and friendships were real, and I’ll always be thankful for them. It’s sad to see those doors close. I’m so glad I got to be part of the Hingham store’s story. Thank you for the memories."
The restaurant opened in 2011 and was the very first location for the burger chain created by brothers Paul, Mark and Donnie Wahlberg- three Dorchester, Massachusetts natives who turned their family name and love of food into a restaurant brand that eventually expanded well beyond New England.
The brothers story started in 3 separate lanes: "One brother, Donnie, didn't just join the school band as a kid. He created the most famous boy band in the world. His younger brother, Mark, didn't just take drama. He became one of the most famous actors in the world. And for Paul, well, he loved food and his family. But he wasn't satisfied cooking for just them. He wanted to cook for everyone else's family too."

The reason for the closure isn't that the Wahlbergs are walking away from Massachusetts. The restaurant's lease at the Hingham Shipyard came to an end, and the lease will not be renewed. But there is some good news for burger fans: Wahlburgers says it is actively searching for a new home in the Boston area.
And let's be honest, the Wahlbergs are practically New England restaurant royalty at this point. From Paul's work as the chef behind the food to Mark and Donnie's Hollywood and music careers, the brothers turned their family story into a burger brand that became a pop-culture staple, even spawning its own A&E reality show.
So where can you still get those Wahlburgers? Massachusetts locations remain open in Boston, Plainville and Springfield.

Hingham may be the end of the original chapter, but hopefully, the Wahlbergs aren't finished writing their Massachusetts story just yet.
