The annual SchoonerFest and Regatta returns to the coast of Maine this weekend.

Summer is officially ushered in at 11:54 today, and it's time to let the summer traditions set sail. One of Portland, Maine's richest is the annual arrival of tall ships. Kicking off festivities today (Friday) in Portland's Casco Bay will be the The Parade of Sails from 3:30 - 5:30. According to Tall Ships Maine, the weekend will feature 7 large, traditional schooners racing and parading under sail together in Portland Harbor with some people participating onboard. If sea sickness is a thing for you, check it out from the shore. The 2018 event featured some of the most famous schooners in the country including Gloucester's Schooner Adventure, the 131' Harvey Gamage of Portland, and Bailey Island's Schooner Alert. These classics are racing against hometown favorites Bagheera and Wendameen.

Wind down the weekend Sunday with evening cruises from 6-9pm. Purchase your advance tickets here.
