What Was The Coolest Thing To Happen To You In 2017?
2017. Wow! What a year. Luke Combs says being featured in Rolling Stone magazine was the coolest thing to happen to him in 2017.
Since reading that, I've thought a lot about the coolest thing to happen in my life over the past twelve months. It's been memorable for so many things, personally and professionally. I started off the year hosting the highest rated morning show in Albany, NY. But then in February, my son and I moved to New Hampshire for a new adventure.

A long-term relationship ended with someone I loved. But I spent the summer laughing with BOTH of my sons when my youngest came to visit...went to amazing concerts where I met and hung out with some of Country music's biggest stars...and met the greatest listeners ever.
I adopted Marley from Lucky Pup Rescue in Kennebunkport. I've had a front row seat as my oldest visits colleges and prepares to start a new chapter in his life. My step-mom passed away, leaving my dad all alone. And right as the year is coming to a close, I met somebody new, and I'm hopeful for the future.
Truly, I'm blessed with so many good things. So how do I pick the coolest moment out of all that? If I have to choose...then I'm going to pick forming the Big Breakfast at 97-5 WOKQ.
For those of you that don't know...WOKQ is a LEGENDARY Country station with a storied history. Some GREAT talent have graced the airwaves here. It is one of the biggest Country stations in the United States. And when I was offered the opportunity to re-build a morning show here with Kira...it was truly a no brainer.

Many great things have happened to me this year. Opportunities and doors have opened. But none of them would have been possible without the decision to move to New Hampshire and WOKQ. I am truly the happiest I've been in years.
Is life perfect? Hahahahahaha...oh far from it. But it's REALLY, REALLY GOOD. I have two healthy sons. Marley is one of the best dogs I've ever had. And I have great co-workers. My co-host is one of my best friends. I love Kira...and I hope you hear that every morning. We joke, tease, and dare I say pick on each other. But it's all done with mutual admiration and love for one another and what we create every morning.
I have the BEST job in the world. Without that...many of the things that made my year so great wouldn't have been possible. Making the decision to move to New Hampshire was life changing. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't trade places with anyone in the world right now unless I could take everyone in my life with me someplace warm and sunny twelve months of the year.
Despite the ups and a few downs...there isn't much I'd change. I hope your 2017 was as happy and memorable as mine. If it wasn't...then I wish you the best for the new year.
