A light snow will fall across the Seacoast the rest of Friday, followed by a cold weekend.

A Winter Weather Storm warning remains in effect for the entire Seacoast region until 10 p.m. When the snow comes to an end, total accumulations are expected to be:

    • 4-6 inches for inland areas of southeastern New Hampshire and southern Maine
    • 6-8 inches along the immediate coast of New Hampshire and Maine and inland areas of northern Massachusetts
    • 8-12 inches for coastal Essex County in Massachusetts

The heaviest of the snow fell during the Friday morning commute at a rate of an inch per hour in some places, according to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine.

Many Seacoast school districts canceled classes on Friday including Dover, Portsmouth, Winnacunnet, and SAU 16 in Exeter. New Hampshire State Police said troopers had responded to 25 calls for service involving vehicles off the road & minor crashes since 5:30 a.m. on Friday.

Snow Emergencies and Parking Bans

  • Dover: Waste Management has postponed curbside recycling pick-up for the remainder of Friday. Curbside recycling not collected today will be picked up Saturday. Curbside trash pickup will continue Friday as scheduled.
  • Durham: All town officers are closed on Friday with employees working remotely if possible.
  • Hampton: An emergency parking ban is in effect until 3:30 p.m. Friday, prohibiting parking on streets and public ways.
  • Portsmouth: A snow parking ban is in effect. Flat rate parking is available at Hanover Garage ($5 per exit) and Foundry Garage ($3 per exit) until 2 hours after the ban cancellation is issued.
  • Salisbury: A snow emergency is in effect for all day Friday, meaning all street parking is prohibited until 10 p.m. (including North End Boulevard), to allow for snow removal. Parking is available in municipal parking lots
  • Somersworth:  A city-wide parking ban ends at 6 p.m. on Friday. Vehicles parked on city streets will be ticketed and towed.

The weather turns sunny and cold Saturday with temperatures near 30. Temperatures will be moderate on Sunday, as snow in the morning will turn to rain around noon with temperatures approaching 40. Snow showers will return on Sunday night.

Temperatures will plummet to the teens during the daytime hours on Tuesday before bouncing back to the 20s on Wednesday.
