A horrific crash on Center Street in Auburn on Thursday evening sent a car airborne and into the Burger King drive-thru colliding with another. Chelsi Clavet of Minot was one of the people in their car in line when she witnesses the crash and rushed to help the injured.

According to the Auburn Police Department, 18-year old Asad Mohamed of Lewiston struck a vehicle that was coming out of the Verizon parking lot across the street and just north of Burger King. The car went airborne and struck another vehicle waiting in line at the drive-thru. Several people were transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Chesi Clavet witnessed it all as she waited in line and posted on social media what she saw and how she helped the victims:

What an eventful night. I was at the Burger King drive-thru getting the kids dinner. There was a car at the window and a car behind them and myself.

I heard a noise to my right. I looked over and saw a car come jetting across Center Street over the curb at Mobil, go airborne and land sideways crashing into the car at the drive-thru window and the building.

I jumped out of my car, called 911 and ran over. Other people were on the car helping the people inside get out.

One boy (the driver) got out of the car and was awake. I had him sit down, which he did for a moment before laying down and then eventually passing out. Another boy who was a backseat passenger got out of the car and I also made him sit. He was ok minus a laceration to the hand. The other backseat passenger came out who was a young girl. I sat with her ensuring she was ok and checking the blood flow to her hand as she wasn’t able to feel from her elbow down, so I’m thinking a break or dislocation. The next to come out was the passenger who wasn’t belted and wound up pinned between the back seat and the door. She was pretty shaken and had some brief memory loss before regaining it, but she had a head laceration (small) and had passed out in the car for a moment.

Everyone got out to the hospital ok. There was another car that hit them down by Verizon which caused the driver to overcorrect and cross the center line and everything else happened.

I am so glad other people were there to help them get out. Glad the employee at the drive-thru window were ok and I hope and pray the driver makes a full recovery and that everyone else remains ok.

Now for a shower as I didn’t realize I was covered in blood until halfway home.

The crash is being reconstructed and speed is a contributing factor.
