York, ME Police Accept $3 Parking Ticket Payment 42 Years Late
We've all been there. You're out for the day when you come back to find a dreaded parking ticket on your car. I once had so many that I got a boot on my car in Louisville, which was NOT a fun experience!
Gary Urgonski of South Dennis, MA didn't get a boot on his car, but he did come back to find a parking ticket on it. According to Seacoast Online, Gary was visiting York, ME way back in 1978 when this occurred. Gary says he was just sightseeing, visiting the coast. When he returned to his car he found the ticket for $3.00. Since he lived in MA and the ticket was in ME, he went home, threw it in a drawer and forget about it, according to the paper.
Urgonski came across the ticket the other day and decided to pay it, with $1.00 interest after 42 years!
Urgonski included a letter to the York, ME Police Department along with his four dollar check explaining what it was for, according to Seacoast Online.
The York Police Department seemed to get a good laugh out of the payment and posted on their Facebook page!
I'm loving all the comments on the Facebook post including "he hasn't cleaned out his drawer since 1978?!" and "See? We MA people ARE nice!".
So, i guess the moral of the story is better late than never!
