Are Zig-Zag Yellow Lines Coming to New England Towns to Slow Drivers Down?
Can you imagine driving down the road and seeing the straight yellow lines switch to zigzags?
You would be really confused, right? I sure as heck would be if I saw a straight road with zigzagging yellow lines in the middle...
What could this even be for?
Zig-Zag Yellow Road Lines in Philadelphia, PA:
A small town in Philadelphia, PA, has put in a new zigzag yellow line system in the middle of a busy street.
According to CBS News, neighbors have been complaining about drivers speeding on their street, so the zigzag yellow line was created in an attempt to slow drivers down.
But is it working?
The yellow zigzag lines had a 50% success rate.
Some drivers abided by the zigzags, slowing down to stay in the lines, whereas other drivers practically ignored the lines and drove straight anyway.
As far as public opinion, that is split too.
Some of the locals said that the yellow lines were ugly...a confusing eyesore.
Other locals in PA were thrilled with an actual attempt, other than more signage, to slow drivers down.
Will we be seeing zigzag lines in other parts of the Northeast, like in New England? Maybe...
Do we want them or think it will work...you tell me.
