WOKQ presented a private acoustic performance with Kip Moore and special guest April Cushman recently, and it was certainly one for the books! We pride ourselves in providing these once-in-a-lifetime experiences for our listeners and getting them up close and personal with their favorite country artists.

Here's the WOKQ crew (from left to right) Ginny, Me (Kira), Logan, and Jadd before we took the stage to welcome the crowd:

April Cushman is an artist straight out of Swanzey, New Hampshire. She is a farmer, wife, mama, songwriter, and just a hilarious and talented woman. April has been a friend to the station for a long time, and we love giving local artists a platform to strut their stuff. April's performance was captivating and powerful. We're huge fans!

And then of course, there was Kip, who blew us all away not only with his incredible voice, but his authenticity and honesty.

We asked him a few questions about his upcoming album: "What can we expect?" "What's the name?", stuff like that. His response was so frank and hilarious. He said "I promise I am not an a**hole but I can't answer these questions." I guess we will just have to wait and hear it for ourselves! We do know he co-produced the new album with Jaren Johnston from the Cadillac Three, and he said that was a really awesome experience.

Kip was a little out of sorts because he plugged his phone into a charger at an airport earlier that day, and it burst into flames. This is inconvenient for anyone, but for someone who had thousands of songs in their notes app and didn't back their phone up in the cloud, it is downright catastrophic. He spoke very articulately about how the whole thing was making him feel. It was emotional. One of our listeners said on her way out that Kip was being so real and vulnerable with the crowd that she thought a few times to herself, "should I be hearing this!?"

We all left with a great respect and appreciation for Kip. He is one of the most honest and hardworking artists in the game, and it was an honor to watch him perform and listen to his stories in such an intimate setting. We hope we can have more events like this one in the future! It was a night we will never forget.
