No one is going to judge you for being superstitious at a time like this.

The NH Lottery is reporting that Saturday's Powerball drawing is expected to grow to almost half a billion dollars.  That means the one time payout is estimated to be over $218 million.

It happens around here more often that you might think.  It wasn't that long ago that a Hudson, NH player won a $2 million dollar jackpot.  That's not half a billion, but I wouldn't sniff at those dollars, would I?

What are NH Powerball Players Carrying for Luck?

I know when I really want something badly, I have a few things that are my go-to.  Many others do too, according to Reddit:

  • Four Leaf Clovers:  Maybe because of all the Irish around here?  This one is a popular choice
  • Penny:  These aren't going to be made anymore, so get 'em while you can!
  • Rabbit's Foot:  I do not understand this one, but if you have the spirit of some hare that brings you good fortune, rock on.
  • Horseshoe:  Some people nail a horseshoe above their door to catch all the evil spirits and keep them away, so maybe they are good for putting money in your pocket too.
  • Ladybug:  I'm gonna make the rule here that if you just look at a picture of a ladybug, it counts.
  • Lucky Cat:  Any cat is lucky.  Pet yours and pray.  If you don't have a cat, look at a picture of a cat.  (see above rule for ladybugs)
  • Wishbone:  This one works best around Thanksgiving, but any time of year is magic.  Believe baby, believe.

What did I miss?  What do you carry for luck?
