It’s Happening! A Beloved Icon is Returning to Maine’s Fryeburg Fair
The world feels the most normal it has since the end of 2019. That's just cold hard fact. And while everyone in Northern New England is craving the spring and summer weather to roll through after finally getting passed a chilly winter, if things stay the way they are, fall will be welcomed with open arms because of the most normal fair season we'll have seen in three years.
And helping to make it more normal this year? The return of an iconic staple to the Fryeburg Fair.
Sunflower Farms Pizza is coming back to the Fryeburg Fair
As if the awkwardness of navigating the Fryeburg Fair last year during the pandemic wasn't enough, an extra heartbreak was added last year when it was announced that one of the Fair's staples, Vinny Lanavaro and his Sunflower Farms Pizza, decided to bow out of the 2021 Fryeburg Fair.
However, the Fryeburg Fair Facebook page dropped some good news on us yesterday with the announcement that history will not repeat itself, because Vinny is bringing his legendary 'Za back to the Fairgrounds this year!
That nugget of news ensures the 2022 Fryeburg Fair, which runs October 2 through October 9 this year, according to the Fryeburg Fair's official website, will feel a hell of a lot more normal than last year. In fact, Kristi Seavey, who has been involved with the Fryeburg Fair since she was a young child, mentioned the fact that Sunflower Farms Pizza is one of the premiere highlights of the entire Fair!
"This pizza stand is absolutely a must-stop for most, if not all vendors and visitors of the Fair. I've never walked by and not seen a line of at least 40 people long."
There is one thing to note about Sunflower Farms Pizza's involvement in the Fair this year, though. While they've always been located right behind the Exhibition Center, this year Vinny and his slices will be stationed near the Milking Parlor.
