A Favorite Massachusetts Halloween Attraction Is Limiting Visitors This Year
The town of Salem, Massachusetts is a Halloween hotspot since it was the setting of the infamous Salem witch trials. There are so many spooky tours to take and fun shops to explore.
One of the most popular places to visit is Old Bury Point which is Salem's oldest burial ground. Typically it is visited by 600,000 people a year! On weekends in October, the town of Salem will be restricting access to the cemetary. Visitors will be capped at 100 at a time. The reason behind this decision (according to a Salem tourism exec) is people forget that this is a real burial ground and not a movie set. People have picnics, leave their trash, even change their babies' diapers! With too many visitors at once it just gets out of control.
