Dine & Drink in a Private, Heated, Outdoor Fish Shack at this Maine Brewery and Distillery
Surviving winter in Maine, or anywhere in New England, requires a choice.
Option 1: Stay in and warm / go to Florida (or book any warm weather trip).
Option 2: Embrace the cold - ski, skate, date in the snow, and make the most of it.
Truthfully, most of us are a combination of options one and two; however, only the real New Englanders will make an outdoor date out of a 5-degree day.
And here is where I will show you the best of both worlds - the fish shacks at Batson River Brewing and Distilling.
Batson River has a few locations: Portland, Biddeford, Wells, and Kennebunk.
At its Kennebunk location, the famed brewing and distilling hot spot now has fish shacks that you can book with your partner or friends.
According to the Batson River website, each shack can seat up to six people - a perfect night out with pals.
The shacks are private, and very cute if I do say so myself. And do not worry - THEY ARE HEATED.
You can experience winter in Maine in the warmth or pop outside the shack for a beer at the outdoor fire pit.
And just so you know - Batson River ROCKS. It is not just the unique shacks or beautiful interiors of the buildings...The food, beers, and cocktails at Batson River are 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
And if you are brave enough to walk during the winter, there are 3 breweries in Portsmouth, New Hampshire within 1-mile of each other. Perfect for a winter beer crawl - check it out below:
