Bostonians might want to invest in a Seasonal Affective Happy Light, as the city has rocketed into the top ten grayest places in America.

Days are at their shortest, temps are plummeting, and before you know it, we'll be loaded with snow. Some revel in this season of tundra. Others, not so much. The next time Bostonians want to mail in the day, they can officially blame it on their surroundings.

Boston is downright gloomy.

That's right, the city with one of the worst commutes in America has now broken into the top 10 of grayest places in the United States. According to BestPlaces.net, Boston received a “gloom score” of 67.8, making it 10th on the website’s “Gloomiest Places in America” list. The site measured percentage of cloud cover, average hours of daylight, and the all important days with precipitation to determine their list. Alaska was left out because well, they don't have a city which qualifies. Even Fairbanks isn't considered one of the 50 largest metro areas, and those were the only measured.

Without peeping the list, what do you think #1 would be? Seattle? Bingo. They're at the top. Like minded gloomies Portland, Oregon, and Cleveland, Ohio placed second and third.

Thankfully, the Pats, Bruins, and Celtics can provide regular endorphin rushes to keep us balanced. Right?
