If you have ever wanted to stay overnight in Boston because maybe you were seeing a show at the TD Garden and didn't want to drive home, you probably already know, hotels in Boston are wicked pricey, but the most expensive in the World?  According to this survey, yes.

The survey was done by cheaphotels.org, which compared 100 cities worldwide. They took the average price of a double room in a centrally located hotel with at least 3 stars.  The survey time frame was from October 1-31, 2025.  They used hotel booking websites for the numbers they worked with.

Boston came up as the most expensive average price of $375.  Second on the list is New York City at $338, followed by Zurich at $274.

Maybe it's because I'm a New Englander, but it just doesn't seem possible that Boston has the most expensive hotel prices in the world.  If I was looking for a hotel in Boston, I would probably look in surrounding towns like Chelsea, Revere or Saugus.  From those towns, you can jump on Route 1 and you're good to go into the city with not too much trouble.

My husband might agree with this survey.  He stays in Boston occasionally when work makes it necessary to do.  He tries to get a hotel in "Boston Proper," but the prices are outrageous and he tries to find another option.

Don't get me wrong, as a die-hard Sox fan, it's always nice to beat New York, but on this list, I wouldn't mind if Boston was a little further down the list.

Besides Boston, New York and Zurich, here are the other cities in the Top 10:

  • Milan, $268
  • Paris, $257 (friggin' Paris is less expensive?  C'mon, Man!)
  • Detroit, $240
  • Washington, D.C., $227
  • Rome, $224
  • Vienna, $205
  • Amsterdam, $204

The next time you are in Boston and you're looking to stay overnight, take my word for it and explore the suburbs.
