Well, DUH!  Tell us something we didn't know.

Boston has been the number one place to celebrate the Feast of St. Patrick for the 2nd year in a row.  We just missed the number one spot on the years that we didn't take the top.

Some Reasons Why Boston is #1 to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

The Irish have history with Boston.  This is where we landed during the potato famine of the 1840's.  According to the Patriot Ledger, Boston is the most Irish inhabited city outside of Ireland.

There are Irish pubs everywhere in Boston.  There are, according to the Patriot Ledger, 49 Irish pubs in Boston.  49.  That's more than any other city in the Country.

The Parade in Southie is unmatched.  If you've ever been, you know the amount of people in the streets who are partying like mad.  The turnout is massive.  You're going to get stepped on, beer or other alcohol will be spilled on you and you'll have the time of your life.

Wallethub came up with all the findings in this study based on the following:

  • St. Patrick's Day Traditions:  This is Boston's strong point. The Irish landed here, planted roots and celebrate with the green beer.
  • Cost, safety and accessibility to the festivities were other factors.  Admittedly, Boston was not very high up in the St. Patrick's Day weather category, but the other scores made up for it.

Coming in 2nd place was Reno, Nevada.  Number 3 was Savannah, Georgia and Number 4 Santa Rosa, California.

Honorable mention to Worcester, Massachusetts who came in 5th on the Wallethub list.
