Breakfast Has Just Been Taken To A Whole New Level In Dover

Fat Dog Kitchen has redefined breakfast in Dover. Located next door to The Strand Theater at 20 Third Street, Chef Paul Coty is creating breakfast with a flair and passion like no place else in the Garrison City.

There's a reason they're called Big Ol' Breakfast Sammiches! Chef Coty has taken the basic breakfast sandwich and turned it into four magnificent creations. On Sunday, my son ordered The Marley. Wedged between a jumbo English muffin was an egg, hash, and Swiss cheese. And although it isn't on the official list of ingredients, we're pretty sure Chef Coty sprinkled in some extra love. My son is a pretty particular eater...so when he took one bite, and proclaimed it the best breakfast sandwich ever...I took his word for it.

Having lived for years in San Antonio, TX and Sacramento, CA, I pride myself as a breakfast burrito connoisseur. Not only have I eaten countless breakfast burritos, I make a pretty mean one myself. So imagine my shock and surprise when I bit into the Big Damn Burrito at Fat Dog Kitchen. It was filled with scrambled eggs, sausage, black beans, Cheddar cheese, and homefries in a warm tortilla, finished on the grill with fresh salsa. All I can say is...hands down, it's one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever eaten. When I complimented Chef Coty, he told me it was made Colorado style. I don't know exactly what that is...but I can tell you this...I can't wait to eat another one.

While Coty holds down the kitchen, his wife, Stephanie Gladys runs the front of the house. We were met with a cheerful hello, and promptly waited on by a smiling, attentive waitress. Stephanie went from table to table talking to each customer as if they were good friends that had just dropped by. When I commented on the hospitality, she told me they opened Fat Dog kitchen seven months ago with the goal of making customers feel as if they were sitting around a big living room with friends, sharing great food. And that's exactly what they have done.

Fat Dog kitchen is open Wednesday through Sunday, 7:30 am until 2:30 pm. Lunch starts at 11 am, specializing in tasty burgers, salads, and sandwiches.
