Did Britney Spears Own a Home on Governor’s Island in New Hampshire?
Over the years many a celebrity has retreated to Northern New England in order to reconnect with nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood.
Jimmy Fallon considers Lake Winnipesaukee his second home. He and his wife Nancy love it so much they even named their first daughter "Winnie" after that big beautiful body of water.
Matt Damon was spotted cooling off at the Juicery in Kittery, Maine this past Summer after a bike ride with his family. Is that wholesome or what? And respectfully, the smoothies appear to be working because he is in fantastic shape!
In the early 2000's there were rumblings that Ms. Britney Spears owned a house on Governor's Island in New Hampshire. In that period of time (and also in present day) she has been trying to find inner peace and get away from the paparazzi who single handedly stole her youth and ruined her early adulthood. (Well, maybe not singlehandedly. Her father was certainly of no help) The lakes region is the perfect place to disconnect from one's every day stresses and woes.
In the Lake Winnipesaukee forum there was a conversation about it. There are lots of funny speculations but my favorite was "were there booty shorts hanging on the line?" Sorry, but you must admit that is amusing.
Someone quotes a headline from 2004 that says, "The singer has spent big on a lavish property situated on Governor's Island, N.H. -- an area so exclusive only the mega-rich can buy there. A source says of the three-bedroom house: "It's stunning. It has amazing views over Lake Winnipesaukee and is far from the hustle and bustle Britney is so desperate to get away from. She says she can't wait to move in and get to know the area."
Another person did some research and said According to the NH Appraisal database, there is no home owned by Britney Spears in Alton (at least as of July 29, 2011). Perhaps she purchased it under another name, or via a Trust.
Did anyone ever spot Britney galivanting around Gilford beach in her string bikini? Not anyone that I have spoken to. But perhaps she did own a house there for a small period of time and kept her profile extremely incognito. We may never know.
But if Britney ever wants to come back to New Hampshire (or come for a first time), I know we would welcome her with open arms. We just want you to be happy, Brit!
