This is the Worst Traffic Light in Hampton, New Hampshire
We all have that traffic light in our town that is the bane of our existence.
I remember there was one in my hometown of Leominster, Massachusetts, that would turn green for five seconds and then be red for three minutes. I know this because I timed it one day. I know, I really need to get a life.
Uncooperative traffic lights can make you feel like you are slowly losing your mind.
I remember a few years back in a Rochester, New Hampshire, community group on Facebook this guy named Glenn Hayes popped off about a light in the Lilac city that he suspected was broken.
It was the light on Milton Road as you are leaving the Lilac Mall. He noticed that if he is leaving and turning left, while in the far left lane, he has no issues. But if he is turning left and he's in the middle lane, that light WILL NOT CHANGE. When this happens, he turns into the left lane, and then it changes.

It turns out Glenn is not crazy (at least about this)! Tons of people left comments agreeing with his sentiment. The general consensus is that there are probably sensors in the ground by the lights, but the one in the middle lane is worn out. No word on if that light ever got fixed but I sure hope it did for the people of Rochester's sake!
I now am a proud resident of Hampton, New Hampshire and we have a light that I feel like I am ALWAYS stuck at no matter what time of day it is. I don't suspect anything is wrong with the light I just think it is a congested part of town.
Where is the light in question?
If you live in Hampton, you likely already know the light I am talking about. It is the light where Lafayette Rd and High Street intersect near the Old Salt.
I have spent a lot of my life sitting at the light. It is usually VERY backed up if you are coming up Lafayette Rd with the Old Salt on your right. I find myself in that line of traffic when I come back from Hannaford quite often.
Traffic is gonna traffic, and there is not much we can do about it! Until we have flying cars (can we get on that Elon Musk?) I think it is something we will have to deal with for the foreseeable future. I think it's a great opportunity for us all to practice our patience. Something I could certainly work on.
Do you think there is a worse traffic light than this one in Hampton? I'd love to know! Shoot me a message.
