Could Concord, New Hampshire, Be Getting Its Buffet Back?

If you’ve ever found yourself reminiscing about Concord’s Red Apple Buffet, you may want to get excited because a new restaurant could soon be bringing an all-you-can-eat experience back to the former Loudon Road location!

Red Apple has been closed for nearly 6 years now and has been nothing but a shell of what used to be.

According to the Concord Monitor, there's a newbie in town and its name is City Buffet!

The owner, Daniel Feng, says City Buffet will have a similar vibe to Red Apple. The menu will include Chinese, American and some Italian dishes, giving diners plenty of options to choose from.

And there’s one detail that should make buffet fans especially happy: the Monitor reports that the new restaurant is “all you can eat.” Feng told the Monitor that renovations have already been underway for about three months, with a goal of opening in October.

Which means, we have less than 2 months to wait!

The original Red Apple closed in the aftermath of the pandemic and never reopened, leaving plenty of locals wondering if the Concord location would ever come back to life. But that didn't stop Red Apple fans from continuing to talk about and hope for its return.

One local reminisced on social media, "Oh I miss the Red Apple! It was always a favorite in our family…"

"I enjoyed their sweet Rangoon’s. Only place that made them. Use to take the kids there all the time."

While another said, "The Red Apple never should have closed! They were amazing!"

And I'll admit, I have a serious soft spot for buffets myself. When I was little, some of my favorite family memories were trips to Old Country Buffet at the Walpole Mall in Massachusetts. There was just something so exciting about walking in knowing you could have a little bit of everything and then go back for more!

So, hearing that an all-you-can-eat buffet could be returning to the old Red Apple space definitely hits a nostalgic spot for me.

If City Buffet opens as planned, Concord could soon have a new place to pile those plates high, try a little bit of everything and make some new buffet memories of its own.
