New 30-Foot Light-Up Climbing Structure Opens at Children’s Museum of New Hampshire
Having kids means constantly looking for activities or things to do with them. Maybe it's taking them to a fall festival. Maybe it's hitting up a children's play space or a playground.
There's thankfully a variety of options out there, but I'm always looking for the next new thing to try.
Well, the Children's Museum of New Hampshire in Dover has an exciting addition that just debuted at its space: a 30-foot light-up play structure called The Climber.
What is The Climber at the Children's Museum of New Hampshire?
According to a press release, custom-built The Climber is "a visually stunning, large-scale climbable sculpture that combines art, architecture, and play" made specially for the Children's Museum of New Hampshire.
It lights up with an illuminated glow of LED colors that can be changed whenever, making for a unique climbing experience each time.

And this thing is tall.
The press release says The Climber goes all the way from the main floor to the rafters. We're talking 30 feet up, and at the very top, an amazing full view of the whole museum.
My own kids would definitely try to get to the highest point for sure. I wonder how quickly they could make their way up and down?
How Safe Is The Climber at the Children's Museum of New Hampshire?
A climbing structure that goes up 30 feet certainly sounds daunting, especially if you're worried about safety.
But you can rest easy.
The press release said that the platforms that kids can traverse are molded plastic and can individually hold up to 250 pounds. Additionally, there are thousands of feet of vinyl-coated cable netting surrounding the sculpture, and the way The Climber was designed, "children can never fall further than 18 inches while exploring."
Plus, the museum noted that the 30-year-old Luckey Climber company, which built the Climber as well as hundreds of others across the world, has a spotless safety record.
When Is The Climber at the Children's Museum of New Hampshire Open?
The Climber at the Children's Museum of New Hampshire opens to the public on Friday, October 2, 2026.
It's just one of the many exhibits your kids can explore with admission to the museum.

The place is open every day except Monday, but be sure to check the website for up-to-date hours and days.

Just as a visual piece, the Climber is so cool. That rainbow of bright colors is a sensory feast for the eyes. (Anybody have shoes that lit up when you walked when you were a kid? I can't help but think of that. Oh, and glowsticks, of course.)
And that's not to mention all the confidence and problem-solving skills kids will gain from trying to navigate to the very top.
Think your kids are ready to accept the challenge? Maybe the bigger question: will you be headed to the top?
