Sol means "sun" in Spanish, making it the perfect name for the newest gastro delight in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Remember the old Mr. Kim's, or maybe you were fond of  Agave?  Both of these restaurants were once in this space.  Now, it's time for a fresh take on famous foods from the South at Sol Southern Kitchen and Lounge.

Bright, sunny yellow umbrellas line the sidewalk outdoor cafe, and it's your first hint there's something very special about this place. Doors are flung wide open and beautiful sunshine adorns the dining areas inside and outside.

As indicated on the menu on the Sol Facebook page, Southern cooking is divided into 7 different regions of the South. They are Appalachia, Cajun, Creole, Floribbean, Gullah, Low Country, and Soul Food.  All are represented on the menu at Sol.

The Grand Opening just happened, and while the team is still figuring out the menu, they are taking recommendations. After all, they do need a winter menu, too.
