It was a hot one this weekend.  I didn’t even want to leave the apartment yesterday because of the heat, I cannot imagine walking 1,000 miles but one New Hampshire man, Dwight Barnes is doing just that according to newscentermaine.com.  Dwight Barnes, a retired McDonald’s owner, and operator is planning on walking all across New England visiting Ronald McDonald Houses in Rhode Island, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Maine to raise awareness for the Ronald McDonald Houses Charities of New England.

There is a lot of suffering in America right now and Dwight Barnes holds the Ronald McDonald House Charities near and dear to his heart and has supported the charity for many years.  He tells newcentermaine.com, “It’s the charity itself, it’s their mission.  I was in the McDonald’s business for almost 40 years and as an owner/operator, we always supported that charity and it became very special to me.  My feet will be sore, but it will be a good sore because I know what the purpose its.

Dwight plans to embark on his journey on August 17 and plans to cover roughly 20-25 miles a day.  He plans to walk for about 56 days.  A passion for helping others will fuel him for this journey.  What a wonderful thing to do.  Right now, sick kids and their families need our help.  We have been so focused on COVID-19, that we have lost sight of the many children fighting to recover from other ailments such as cancer and their families need the support that the Ronald McDonald House gives.  If you are interested in how you can help, I have posted the link below.
