Did Maine Just Prove This TikTok Challenge is Bogus?

There's really no middle ground when it comes to TikTok. People either seem to love it from a content creation standpoint or can easily go down a wormhole of swiping from video to video as a viewer only. But it seems like there's really no casual TikTok fan.

Being in radio, depending on the type of music you play, sometimes you can completely ignore TikTok and anything that it involves (mainly rock stations.) Other times, your finger needs to be on the pulse of what's hot on TikTok and always be on top of current trends. And it seems like trends are always evolving.

TikTok Trends

TikTok trends picked up huge during the start of the pandemic, since we were pretty much all relegated to the four walls we call home. There was the "Don't Rush Challenge" trend:

Recently, there was the, "He/She's a 10, but..." trend:

But recently, one of the new trends we've stumbled across involves stuffing your head instead of a pair of pantyhose and trying to blow out a candle. No, seriously. It's a thing. Which I suppose is an upgrade from eating Tide Pods and the Slap a Teacher Challenge (which some say was a hoax and others report was a legit thing.)

Now, some trying to tackle the challenge end up thinking it's so ridiculous that they can't even actually get through the challenge itself.

And that's where Maine may have blown (no pun intended) the door wide open on this challenge actually being a challenge. Earlier this morning, the morning show planned on recording multiple people participating in this challenge after the show; however, when a live on-air attempt saw the candle blown out easily on the first try, the idea was scrapped because the whole thing just came off bogus.

So bogus that no one even recorded video of the live morning show attempt because we had all planned on doing it after the show, until we saw how lame and what a let down it actually was. But, regardless of the challenge being bogus or not, there is one takeaway from this whole thing:

This challenge makes for some EPIC pictures. (In fact, some of them even look like Snapchat filters instead of actual pictures taken from inside of pantyhose!)
