This little ball of energy is the most loved and most owned dog breed in New Hampshire. It's not hard to guess which breed is the most popular in the Granite State.

Labrador Retrievers are the most beloved, not only in New Hampshire, but also Massachusetts, Idaho, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, South Dakota and West Virginia, according to Forbes Advisor.

The American Kennel Club says Labs are one of the most popular breeds year after year, mostly for their disposition.  They are friendly, outgoing, and great as a family dog, loving affection from everyone in the family, and giving it right back.

While Labrador Retrievers are high-spirited and require a good bit of running and swimming to keep their athletic build, they are great companions.  Most dogs of this breed grow to between 55 and 80 pounds.  They're considered a medium to large dog, and are certainly trainable.

The AKC maintains, "Owning a dog is not just a privilege; it’s a responsibility. They depend on us for, at minimum, food and shelter, and deserve much more. When you take a dog into your life, you need to understand the commitment that dog ownership entails".

This includes health care, grooming (yes this includes baths and teeth brushing), exercise, training, and nutrition.  Think of your dog as another child in the house, and part of the family.

Rover.com says,

According to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Labs are the most successful guide dogs. This champion smeller can even work in search and rescue and is especially suited to more challenging work, such as water rescue.

Keep them mentally and physically active, and this breed is amazing.

It's no wonder the Labrador Retriever is the most popular breed in New Hampshire.
