If you are a dog owner you are accustomed to feeling that unconditional, amazing, love that dogs bring into our lives.

You know the saying "we don't deserve dogs"? On some level, I believe that to be true. Humans can be selfish, vindictive, and cruel to one another. But dogs are made up of nothing but love!

Is there any better feeling than when you come home from work and your dog has never been happier to see you and their tail is wagging like crazy?

This is why when they are feeling sick or not themselves, we launch into worried parent mode. Dogs can't communicate what's wrong when they are under the weather. So it is up to us to figure it out and that is where our trusty friend Google comes in.

What are the most commonly Googled health conditions for dogs?

PetLab conducted an analysis of Google search data to determine what the most searched-for dog health worry was. The conditions analyzed include ‘pancreatis’, ‘worms’, ‘mange’ and ‘ticks’ - and it turns out that pet owners are most concerned about canine ear infections, as the nation’s most searched-for issue.

The American Kennel Club estimates that 20% of dogs suffer from an ear disease. This concern around ear infections may increase over Winter for some owners, as snow/ dry leaves make it into your dog’s ear canals can make the condition worse

With the long, cold Winters, it is not surprising that the state of Maine came in as the #1 state for concerned dog owners with 275 average monthly searches per 100k of its population.

Vermont followed closely behind with 253 average monthly searches per 100k.

I don't view this data as a bad thing. It's good to be a concerned pet owner and do your research on behalf of your furry friend.

Co-founder and CEO of PetLab, Christopher Masanto, had a relatable comment on this study and it's findings.

It’s only natural that we, as pet owners, are anxious about our pets’ health and are keen to seek advice on how we can identify and treat a condition before it worsens. Vigilance is key to catching any illness and getting your dog any help it may need."

It can only be problematic when you find yourself turning to online diagnoses when you should be consulting a vet especially when your dog is exhibiting abnormal symptoms.
