If you drive through downtown Dover on a regular basis… heads up, things are about to get a little tighter on Central Ave.

Starting today, Monday, April 27, the city is kicking off a water main replacement project along Central Avenue, beginning at Broadway and working north.

This is one of those “you’ll definitely notice it” kind of projects, not a full shutdown, but enough to change your normal routine if you’re used to cruising through that stretch.

The Big Thing: No Parking, 24/7

Here’s the part that’s going to impact most people:

No parking at all on Central Ave
From Broadway to Chestnut Street
24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Starting April 27 through about mid-May

Yeah… not just daytime construction hours, this is around the clock.

The reason? Crews need the space to keep one lane of traffic moving in each direction, which is actually a good thing if you’re just trying to get through.

What’s Actually Happening?

The city’s contractor, S.U.R. Construction, Inc., will be:

Replacing the water main along Central Ave
Working north from Broadway
Crossing the rail tracks (expected mid-week)
Installing a new hydrant at Central Ave & Sixth Street

So this isn’t just patchwork, it’s legit infrastructure upgrades.

What to Expect Driving Through

It’s not a full closure, but don’t expect your normal smooth ride either:

  • Lane shifts
  • Minor delays
  • Flaggers directing traffic

Basically… you’ll get through, just maybe not as quickly as usual.

One Bit of Good News

No water outages are currently planned.

So while traffic might slow you down a bit, at least you won’t be dealing with shut-off notices or boiling water.

Bottom Line

If Central Ave is part of your daily routine:

Give yourself a few extra minutes
Plan alternate parking if you usually park there
And just expect a little construction chaos through mid-May

It’s one of those short-term headaches for a long-term fix situations.

Iconic Diners in New Hampshire

There’s just something about a diner… the coffee that never stops coming, the same booth people have probably been sitting in for 30 years, and a breakfast that somehow hits every single time.

As I’ve been getting to know New Hampshire, one thing became very clear — this state LOVES its diners. And not just any diners… we’re talking iconic, been-here-forever, locals-swear-by-it kind of places.

So I went down the rabbit hole (and got very hungry in the process) and pulled together some of the most iconic diners across the Granite State.

Did we get your favorite? Or are you already mad we missed one? 😅
