
End of an Era: Maine Native Rene Rancourt Gets Emotional Send Off from Boston Bruins and Fans
This past Sunday night marked the final regular season performance from a legend of the Boston Garden. After 42 years, National Anthem singer, Rene Rancourt is hanging up his microphone and calling it a career.
He still has a couple of playoff performances to go, but Sunday night Rancourt got emotional before his rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Afterwards, the crowd gave him a standing ovation while his game them his famous fist-pumps!
The Boston Bruins organization honored Rancourt by giving him a golden microphone and a Bruins jersey with the #42 (for the number of years he's performed the anthem). He also got to drop the ceremonial first puck.
Rene, who is 78-years-old, is a native of Lewiston,Maine.
