You Simply Must Go

It's pretty common knowledge that the White Mountains here in New Hampshire are beautiful, but it's lesser-known about the waterfalls of Diana's Baths in the National Forest. It is simply a must-see for everyone in your family.

Know Before You Go

There is a bit of a hike before you get the falls, according to northconwaynh.com, so if you are with a family member who can't walk that well, be advised, the trail is relatively flat and approximately 6/10ths of a mile.  You have to pay for parking, currently $5.00 per day.  If you have a dog, they ARE allowed on the trails, however, you have to pick up after them.

Who Is Diana?

None other than the Goddess of Nature, Diana.  According to Wikiwand, the name came to be by a visitor to the site from "Miss Hubbard of Boston."  (Gotta love the 1800's)  At the time, the waters were known as the Home of the Water Fairies where evil water sprites lived on the ledges and would torment the Native Americans.  The Native American prayers were answered, however, when the sprites were swept away in a flood and Miss Hubbard showed up.

I remember going to Diana's Baths with the family that lived next door to me when I lived in Nashua.  I used to babysit their kids, so they invited me to go with them for their family day one Summer.  Never one to pass up a good time, I agreed to go  It was a beautiful day and I was having a ball swimming in the natural pools.  At one point in the day, the Dad in the family, Chester, asked me to fill up a jug of water to make lemonade.  I started to look around for the spigot!  He said, "Sarah, these are natural springs flowing from the rocks.  The water is clean."  So, I did as he asked and man, oh man, was I surprised!  It was an epiphany for me as a young girl and made me love nature even more than I already did.
