Don't shoot the messenger - or, if you're into freezing cold and snow, you're welcome.

New Hampshire and all of New England need to buckle up for a "wild ride" this winter.

The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a lot of chilly weather for the Northeast for the 2025-2026 season.  They said specifically, "Chill, Snow, Repeat."

The cold and snow might hit some time before Halloween and we all know we've seen that before.   Remember "Snowtober" back in 2013?

Here are a few signs that it is going to be a harsh winter, so says the Almanac:

  • Thicker than normal onion and corn skins.  I haven't noticed this, but now I'm going to pay attention.
  • Geese and Ducks are leaving early.  Watch the skies.  If you hear the geese sooner than you feel that chill in the air, chances are, they know what's up.
  • Squirrels collecting acorns like it's their JOB.  I feel like squirrels are collecting acorns no matter what happens in the Winter, but maybe they are going a little more frantic than usual.

Mother Nature knows what's up, so I am going to listen to her.

Heavy Fog During the Month of August.

How many mornings have we experienced heavy fog in the month of August?  Okay, maybe some of it was due to the Canadian Wildfires, but still.  The Almanac says that we should have counted the number of days we see a lot of fog.  Folklore says that will correspond with the number of snowstorms coming this winter.
