FDA Is Recalling Blood Pressure Medicine
If you take medicine for your blood pressure, check your medicine cabinet. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall.
According to WMTW-TV, the FDA expanded an earlier list of drugs being recalled to include ones that contain valsartan. A valsartan recall was originally issued in July after tests showed some drugs could have been "tainted with a substance linked to higher risk of cancer."
The report by WMTW-TV, citing CNN, says the drug has been recalled in 22 different countries. And the recall includes some drugs that contain valsartan and hydrochlorothisazide. But not all of the drugs containing valsartan were recalled.
If you are worried that your drug could be on the recall list, the report suggests that you speak to your doctor or pharmacist since not all valsartan drugs are part of the recall.
