Fire During Snowstorm Destroys Exeter, NH Home

Firefighters from multiple departments fought a fire in the snow early Friday morning that destroyed a manufactured home in Exeter.

Heavy fire broke out around 4:50 a.m. as snow fell in temperatures below freezing at the home on Friar Tuck Drive, Exeter Fire Chief Eric Wilking told Seacoast Current. Because the single story wood frame house is outside the hydrant district, numerous mutual aid tankers needed to be brought in to attack the exterior flames before transitioning to an indoor attack.

One person, identified by Wilking as a civilian, was injured and hospitalized. The chief did not disclose if the injured person lived in the house.

Photos of the house after the fire show the roof and front wall burned away.

The fire was brought under control around 6:10 a.m. with assistance from North Hampton, Newmarket, Durham, Kingston, Epping, East Kingston, Hampton Falls, Seabrook. Newfields, Newton and Stratham.

The Exeter Fire Department and the state Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
